James Grime was born at Bolton, Lancashire on 5 October 1796 and died at the Benevolent Asylum in North Melbourne, Victoria on 1 March 1869. He married firstly Jane Hardman on 4 January 1815 at Bolton Lancashire. He married secondly Catherine Long on 20 August 1827 in the Scots Church, Sydney, NSW. Catherine had been born at Woolwich, Engalnd in about 1805 and she died at Dandry Station near Coonabarabran, NSW on 9 January 1871. James and Catherine separated in about 1833 and she later married William Carlow. James is buried in an unmarked grave within the Melbourne General Cemetery in Parkville, Victoria. The cemetery contains over 200,000 graves, including those of five Australian Prime Ministers.
